Are you able to tell our family what our grandmother's jewelry collection is worth during our meeting?

It depends on the extent of the collection - how many pieces and how complicated the pieces are. It takes less time to examine and value a plain gold bracelet than it does a multi-gem brooch. Ideally, clients have their documents and valuations in five to ten business days after the day of appraisal.

How much does it cost to have an estate evaluated?

We charge by the hour to sort through items, and there is an additional charge for each written appraisal. Please call us for an estimate based on your collection.

Our late aunt told us her sapphire brooch is "unheated Kashmir" and worth a fortune. Can you substantiate claims such as these?

No. Gemstone origin is difficult to establish which is why we rely on the sophisticated lab at GIA to confirm origin, as well as any treatments made to the gemstone. We can help you acquire a definitive GIA report and put speculation to rest.

I purchased a ring on my last cruise - can you tell me what the center stone is and what the value of the ring is?

Yes. We love confirming your purchases, so you know you got what you paid for. 

Which pieces of jewelry should be insured?

That is a personal decision, but certainly the more valuable the piece, the greater the need for insurance against loss.
